Why is a self-rescue course essential?
Self-rescue skills not only enable you to safely and efficiently escape challenging situations but also provide the knowledge and awareness to reduce the likelihood of such incidents occurring in the first place.
Even with careful planning and caution, accidents can still happen and errors may be made. In these moments, possessing rope work and rescue techniques is invaluable for resolving the situation effectively.
This course is tailored to your specific needs and taught from a climber’s viewpoint, delivering practical solutions for real scenarios using only the equipment you typically carry.

Organised trip to Lundy £300 per day
Usually works with the weather and tides, accommodation and campsite on Lundy all I ask is you put me up either for camping or bunkhouse and the ferry across. Lift share is always preferable if possible down to Bideford.
This usually works when bird restrictions have been lifted in September. Logistics into the Oldenburg (Lundy ferry) can be discussed and planned before we go.
If the weather is really bad we can reschedule for another date or receive a full refund. It is worth knowing that courses can still go ahead using a skill based day or finding a more sheltered places to learn lots of new skills.
It is recommended to take out cancellation insurance with the BMC should the course not go ahead due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. My professional insurance is with Bluefin Sport used with instructors who are members of Association of Mountain Instructors (AMI). It is vitally important you book with a qualified instructor with AMI or IFMGA as all members would have gone through a strict training and assessment.
Whether you are a complete beginner wanting to learn the fundamentals, an intermediate climber looking to refine your technique, or an advanced climber aiming to climb specific routes or challenges, our personalised service will meet your exact needs.
It is worth asking a friend to come along and to share the cost with and decide what you want to learn or climb together. Then get in touch.
If there is a group wanting to do more technical training objectives, I will organise more local qualified instructors to come along. I will talk prices and ratios in our conversation.
We can simply a chat over the phone or email to understand your climbing experience, objectives, and any particular areas you wish to focus on—be it bouldering, sport climbing, trad climbing, or multi-pitch routes I can set up a plan that adapts to your pace and style, ensuring you develop skills effectively and safely.
It is really important you have a good place to stay to maximise your days out as keeping well fed with plenty of sleep for recovery and bring a good lunch and stay hydrated.
